A thread for all your wizardy needs. Archive of WH included! Referring to Wizardy Herbert by Andrew Hussie (note: Wizardy Herbert is a pre-MSPA work of Hussie's and pretty darn vulgar- probably comparable to SBaHJ or Jailbreak in that regard)

I freaking love the wizardy herbert draft and I'm always disappointed when it isn't mentioned along AH's older works. I didn't know the whole thing was pre-mspa though, did we have a timestamp on that? I always pictured it as an abandoned side project, but I guess that makes sense.

I have mixed feelings on Wizardy Herbert. The work is unfinished and never meant to see the light of day, and it shows. I like the idea of an absurdist Harry Potter parody with absolute freaks of children, but it's definitely unpolished and doesn't, in my opinion, live up to the rest of Hussie's works. And that isn't even getting into the ethical minefield of something that was released without the consent of the author.

It’s pretty fascinating how many of the key characters in Wizardy Herbert are prototypes of characters from Homestuck. Of particular note Russet eventually morphed into the striders and Herbert himself paralleling Caliborn. The latter especially says a lot about the story Hussie wanted to tell with Homestuck.
