Whos hand is this. Is it really us? Are there any other instances of us directly putting our hand into homestuck?
Or is it Hussie's hand acting for us?
WHAT IS THIS HAND?!??!

The hand belongs to The Player, in the sense that at that point, Homestuck was still connected to it's adventure game roots. Another thing I've heard is that it's a callback to the homestuck beta (the version where every page was made in flash) which had the player drag and drop the cake themselves.
In retrospect, it seems to be an artifact of a time when homestuck (and possibly even sburb) was not yet realized in the form we know today.
(Do note that I do not have access to any author's notes to back up any of these claims.)

The power of the hand still exists....... Its a part of the big frog.
Could the flash actions still exist but just invisible to us? Maybe behind the veil, homestuck but alllll in flash is the true experience.

big agree. homestuck was definitely more ARG-ish back then in terms of how much say the reader got in what happened. that slowly faded away throughout the comic, though.

It's John's psychic powers manifesting themselves.

I never really thought about the immense disconnect that started happening once Homestuck got less and less interactive. 'You' stopped meaning who 'you' were 'playing' as and just became a standin for the current character on screen. Very strange.

After everything, I think it might be like, the MSPA Reader character slowly loosing control or something?

I recenetly read/listened to the first two acts, and that hand seems to disappear once John enters the game. Like once Rose connects to him we see her using the Sburb cursor to do that exact thing, like get the PDA from the cliff.
Theory-wise, you could say its just the game's cursor, a representation of John's hands, or what they could do (who remembers Humongous Entertainment? ie. Freddie Fish, PJ Sam, Spy Fox, those games) while his arms are neatly tucked away in his sprite.

if that's us. We only helped him because we thought he had no arms.
then we see that he has arms. So helping him is pointless.
